| msisti1's Full Review: JVC XV-501 DVD Player |
I bought this unit as a referb in December 1999. It was purchased from a company in CA on an auction web site. It came w/ the standard warranty (90 labor/1 year parts). For the first few months it worked fine, but then it began having trouble playing some rental DVD's. Problems are same as others are having: pixilation, sound drops, jumping picture and picture freeze. At this point, new DVD's played fine, I was only having problems w/ certain rented DVD's.
The problems eventually got worse, to the point where after having this unit just over a year, I cannot watch any DVD's. I recently sent a letter to JVC "customer no-service" and am expecting no response. I do intend to work my way up the food chain and see if I can get some satisfaction. I hope JVC will stand behind their product. With all the complaints of the same problem I've seen on this unit, I didn't just buy a lemon, there is a design flaw in this unit. JVC sold me and others a faulty DVD player. I will not spend $100 as others did to repair a $200 player, and from other peoples postings, it will not help.
