I have always been a fan of the movies and I started my collection with VHS in college and when I graduated I moved to LASERDISC. LASERDISC is the same exact idea of the DVD, but the LASERDISC was the size of a record and not very luxurious to carry around everywhere. When the LASERDISC failed and they stopped production I was upset...at first I thought DVD wouldn't last. I mean, LASERDISC didn't work out and that had taken away money to my family. But, many of friends and co-workers have purchased DVD and enjoy it very much. Although hesitant, I did end up buying my every own DVD player and it was the Philips DVD 815AT; this DVD player is great. My wife loves and so do my kids. The picture quality is amazing and the sound quality is by far superior to LASERDISC and VHS combined. The player is very spacious and quiet. It works out perfect for the family room, or as a gift to any close friends. The price of DVD’s is very reasonable and my collection of all the great one's have grown considerably since my purchase only a few months ago. I recommend this item for everyone, especially for a family. Watching movies on a DVD player is almost as enjoyable as going to the theater.
