| elmoebeesn's Full Review: Philips DVD825AT Player |
I have recently had the time and great opportunity to check out this DVD player from Phillips. DVD's are certainly becoming the wave of the future and I personally have noticed a great deal of quality features that they provide over traditional VCR's. First of all, the picture quality is much crisper. If you have a big screen TV it may be even better quality than that of a movie theater. Secondly, DVD sound is often more clear and can be enjoyed easily by the whole family. Furthermore, there are often special director's inserts in DVD's that do not appear on cassette tapes. These can include hidden scenes and footage and also an occasional explanation of why the director added some scenes or deleted them and even possibly the directors interpretation of the script. All of these things aid to the viewing experience and this model from Phillips is no exception. It is also very affordable to most with a pricetag of around 250 dollars.
This DVD player produces great picture quality and sound. The movie experience is enhanced for me at least threefold when watching a picture on this machine. Furthermore, there is little setup involved with this player which is convenient. The model will plug directly into the television and once a CD or DVD is inserted, the movie will begin. There is an instruction manual and a remote control provided with all the standard features such as pause, scene skip, scene backtrack and an overall menu so that the user can see all options and scenes on the screen at once and decide which would be the most interesting to watch at that time. With the touch of a button the user can skip directly to his/her favorite scene and begin watching a movie from there. Depending on your style of television, setup may be different for some users.
I have not personally experienced any problems with this model. The manual comes with a customer service number to call if the user experiences problems, and although I have not yet had to use this, I have heard that the attendants are very friendly and helpful. Furthermore, when a scene is paused on this model it remains crystal clear so that even the minor details of the scene can be analyzed. I love this feature because I often miss small details the during the first viewing.
All in all, this is a simple, yet affordable DVD player from Phillips. It is not fancy but provides all the standard DVD features which are quite interesting and unique. If you have some money to spend on entertainment, I would recommend this product for you.
