I recently purchased the Pioneer model DV-C302D 3 disc DVD/CD changer on line for about $320.00 and it’s great.
It features a built in 5.1 surround decoding and output as will as stereo output. There are 2 S-video outputs, a regular video out and a composite video out, digital sound and optical sound out so hooking it up to about any type of system is possible.
The front has plenty of controls so you don’t have to have the remote when you are working up close, and the remote is pretty well laid out. The on screen displays and menu are nice, sort of set up like a PC Screen, with tabs at the top for each section.
Playback of CD’s sounds better than my previous CD player, and it was a good one. The DVD’s I have watched so far, including two rentals that were not in perfect shape, played back flawlessly.
As it is a changer you can put multiple CD’s in and program them or have them play randomly. The unit remembers settings for 15 DVD’s as well as where you left off if you stopped before the end of any of the last 4 movies you watched.
The only problem I had is that my old Pioneer multi-function remote can not learn all of the functions of the one that came with the DVD player. It learned all of the navigational functions, but none of the number keys or the power key.
I would highly recommend this DVD player, check on line for better prices than retail. Make sure if you order before the end of the year the retailer gives you the mail in coupon for five free DVD’s and 13 free DVD rentals.
