When I was shopping for a dvd player, I was looking for as many features as I could get for the money I was willing to spend. I also wanted a multi-disc changer.
When I found the Sony DVPCX850D, it was all I wanted and more. I have quite an extensive VHS collection, and it takes up a lot of space. I am not yet willing to convert all those movies to DVD because of price mostly, but also because of space.
Well, now I can begin to expand my dvd collection without having to worry about taking up additional space with a rack for them. This thing holds 200 right inside. That was one of the key selling points for me.
Another great feature is the on-screen display of all the dvd and cd titles. I can title them my own way, or in most cases, just save the text and title right off the dvd. When I want to watch something, or listen to a cd, I just scroll through the on-screen display and pick it out.
Another great feature is, I can actually block certain titles from my children just by entering a code. They can watch their stuff without me worrying that they may see an R rated movie.
Another great feature is the built in decoder. I did not have to upgrade my receiver if I didn't want to. I bought the STRDA777ES anyway, but that is a different review.
This thing is so easy to use that even my grandmother can operate it, and believe me, she is not technologically inclined. She had a hard time adapting to televisions that used wireless remotes.
If you are in the market for a dvd/cd player, this is the way to go.
