Provides 480p component video outputs, excellent picture clarity, and a dual disk drawer. The product operates flawlessly to expectation. I find that dual disk drawer is very convenient, but the mechanism can be a little on the slow side (but not as bad as some of the Denon units I've used).
There are some fairly useless 5.1 analog outputs (anyone buying this DVD player is connecting it to an outboard audio processor). In fairness to Toshiba, they are just reusing technology and parts which they have already developed.
If you are not going to utilize the component video outputs, in a 480p mode, there is little reason to buy this player. However, at prices approaching $450, it is an absolute steal. This player is replaced by the newer and more expensive SD6200 (about $799), so availability is limited. The side by side A/B picture quality differences I observed (with the SD6200) required an excellent monitor and are very minimal.
I do not use this unit to play music CD's as I have a high end CD transport for that. I have not used the optical digital output, as optical performance is never as good as the coaxial output.
