| bobbyriggs's Full Review: Bose Lifestyle 25 Theater System |
I have an ear for music and can appreciate the effort and design it takes to recreate the sound as accurately as it was produced. I have followed Bose since 1988 when I first noticed the speaker system on the market and had always dreamed of owning such a system. I was evolving from the multi component complex system and monster speakers to one of invisibility and watching the amazement of guests as "all that sound comes from those little speakers."
Now that Bose had designed and produced a complete home theatre system, I studied it for some time to compare with other systems before committing myself to a purchase.
I compared the Bose systems to Bang-Olufsen and the very high end Infinity Speaker systems. Bang-Olufsen and Infinity systems are incredible but cannot be equally compared because of the disparity in price range, further proving that the Bose system is better value.
I have read internet and consumer comparisons and have spent a great deal of time in audio sound rooms comparing the various systems myself, which is what I recommend. In all cases, Bose had the superior sound, when comparing to small satellite systems, or even to the large component systems with expensive speakers.
I finally purchased the Lifestyle 25 home Theatre system, nervous about my investment and how it would sound outside the specially designed acoustic space of a biased showroom, and was even more surprised and pleased at how superior the system sounded in my home.
I have a 120 manor home with beautiful architectural woodwork and the ability to choose white to disappear into the background, and not to have tower speakers mixing with antiques was of paramount importance. I did not want though to sacrifice sound quality. I am pleased at the simple design, ease of installation, the excellent idea of RF remote control in lieu of infrared technology, the option of adding satellite zones, and the ability to add other components if needed, ie 200 disc changer, stereo monitor, etc.
The sound is incredible, rich, full flat bass response without the rattle at higher volumes. The sound is crystal clear at all volumes and I've heard instruments never before heard in my music collection. I was concerned about the midrange, but was pleased the it was present and not overstated, as nothing seemed to be unnatural about the sound at all.
The system is a delight.
I do recommend that if you have a larger space as I have 30' X 16', you do need to purchase additional wiring. The speaker wiring provided with the system is perfectly matched and easy to understand, but does not afford the flexibility for longer wiring runs you may need to completely high all wiring from view.
