Ok, here is the rundown on this baby. I have purchased this unit in 2000 and now I feel my home would not be complete without it. I am a complete audiophile and a student in sound engineering for movies so I know what people expect in a theater system. Unless you can afford $15,000 for a true 'movie-theater' home theater then you will love the Lifestyle 30. Did anyone notice that all the other mass-market electronic manufacturers decided to start making home theater units 'similar' in nature after Bose came out with the Lifestyle Systems?!? That should clue you in on the technology and reasoning behind these glorious sounding systems.
First of all, Bose is known for its superior standards in technology and research. Big things do in fact come in small packages. The quality of this system is higher than the typical mass-market manufacturer. What is the difference between a Rolls-Royce and a Lexus? Both are cars. Both might drive the same. Both are luxurious in their own right. But in the design, manufacturing, and quality the Rolls will triumph. You will see copy-cats and wanna-bes out there but they are NOTHING compared to the 30!
If you want true theater quality in your home then ok, you need a good $15000 to get it. You will get a these powerful, crisp, clear, HUGE, speakers and equipment that will practically invade your home. These systems are practical for a movie theater and mansion owners because they have huge amounts of space to put it! We actually live in our living rooms in the real America. The 30 will take all that equipment: a processor, amp, pre-amp, and combine it to make having a home theater possible and PRACTICAL!
Lets get to the most important part; the sound. You will hear people talk about all highs, mids, and lows, in complaint that the lifestyle does not produce. These people do not know how to listen. All our lives we have heard all kinds of stereo equipment but they never sound like the real world. We could tell if a car was going by or we heard a recording of a car go buy. With the Bose 30 you can barely hear the difference. Those people will go to a club or a friends house that has those monstrous speakers that pump with bass. Well, that is the whole point. The 30 has bass but not that kind of bass. The bass in the 30 is clean and has more presence than power. Trust me. Turn out the lights, put in something like Jurassic Park, Aliens, etc and the explosions, gunfire, speech, thumps, thuds, and everything you hear will be so realistic and pure that your senses might be overcome with sensation to the point of goosebumps. You will hear trees and brush crackle like you have never heard. So vivid and accurate you will never doubt the money you have plunked down.
The 30 will amaze you with its size and presence. You will get goosebumps from hearing superior movie quality Dolby Digital sound to experiencing pure joy from you favorite music. If you enjoy classical and choral music this system will melt you senses with surround sound. Even all your popular music artists will take on a whole new FEEL once you listen to them on your Bose 30.
Oh, yeah, it is a lot of money to plunk down but you will use this baby so much it will be a wise investment. It is not that $15000 system but it comes pretty darn close. I am very satisfied customer and Bose will have my business in the future.
