Pros: Easy to use, very good sound quality, good tape playback and record.
Cons: Tape decks can get a little loud, Flimsy body.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this to anyone and everyone. Except for if you are constantly moving, then maybe something more sturdy would suit you.

| twinislands's Full Review: JVC MX-J100 CD Shelf System |
I bought this about six months ago and have had no regret since. First of all, the good points. It looks great, unlike some others on the market, and will not go out of fashion for a long time. It is extremely easy to use. All the buttons on the system and on the remote are marked very clearly. This is one of the most easy to use stereos I've ever seen. The speakers are of high quality, and give good bass, which is even better with the bass ex on. I've turned it up very loud and it hasn't gotten fussy or tinny. I'm suprised that they don't market the speakers seperatley. At $380 (Australian), it's like you're getting the main unit as a bonus.
Now the (few) bad points. The tape decks emit a light humming noise which can get annoying, but once the volume is at a normal listening level, you can't hear it. But the main bad point is the flimsy body. The control panel is very firm and sturdy, but the rest of it is a little bit of a worry. Every time you pick it up it feels like you have to be very careful as not to crush the insides. But one look inside it and no worry, the parts are far apart from the edge. This flimsyness is not a big problem. But don't drop it! Not even on a couch or a bed. Unlike some other mini/micro systems i've seen like my 15 year old Technics SA-C095 micro system which could easily survive a few bangs, this must be handled with care.
