I received this Panasonic Mini System as a Christmas gift about three years ago. I am not very knowledgeable about electronics so I am going to give you a laypersons view of this stereo.
My parents got me this particular system because it has a five disc CD changer and a remote control. To be honest I just wanted the remote because I am lazy, but that isn't really important. The remote is great. With it you can control the CD player, radio tape player and something called AUX. I have no idea what that is for, but I am sure it is important to someone. Anyhow, you can either manually choose songs on the CDs with the remote, program a play list or set the CD player to randomly select songs. You can also fast forward and rewind tapes, control the volume and mute the music.
Being lazy, changing the CD in a one disc player all the time can be annoying. That's why the five disc changer is so great. This system does have a few flaws with the CD player though. A minor problem is that it takes a long time for CDs to change and the player is very loud while changing. A larger problem occurs when you do not play CDs for an extended period of time. Apparently, there is some way that dust gets into the CD player when it's idle for weeks at a time. It can cause the player not to read the CDs that are put it and cause the machine to claim that a CD is not inserted at all. This can be fixed pretty easily once you know the problem though. It is also prevented by using the player more frequently.
The radio has a great feature as well. You can program stations manually into the memory or have the stereo scan through automatically and put the stations with the best reception for your area into the memory. I do not really use the double tape player, but it does allow you to record off the radio, other tapes or off CDs. It also has an automatic flip feature that you can turn on so that you don't have to flip the tapes manually. The tape player can also be set to play in a continuous loop or switch to the other tape player once the first tape is finished.
The stereo has a digital display with pretty colors that can be programed to pulse to the beat of the music or just flash colors, can show the radio station your on or the time and says hello and goodbye to you when turned on and off.
The stereo also has a few different options to control the sound quality of different types of music played. I do not quite understand what any of that does so I generally leave it on the live music or rock music settings. It seems to work fine like that although there are also classical, heavy, disco, etc. settings.
Overall, I would have to say that this is a very good stereo system and I am very satisfied. I would recommend this system to anyone looking for a small stereo that plays well but is inexpensive.
