| piscesbree's Full Review: Sony CMT-ED1 Shelf System |
Mini systems have been on the market for years, but they've finally reduced their prices enough to persuade a frugal shopper like myself.
Sony's sleek, classy and compact CMT-ED1 minisystem will fit practically anywhere and dress up the surroundings with style. The unit comes in 2 colors, grey and blue, to coordinate with the decor of any room or office. The unit features a CD player, tape deck and 30 AM/FM presets all easily controlled manually or by remote. The speakers detach and deliver quality sound at 15 watts per channel, which is perfect for my office space.
Never-the-less, this unit is ideal as a gift as well: For graduation... for those college dorm rooms with minute extra space. For the office... where space may also be a factor. Or, for any room in the house where a larger system might seem out of place.
Plus, Sony packs quite a few extra features into it's small package. Here are just a few:
1. Full range mini speakers come in 2 colors and offer a bit more punch with the "Bass Boost" option.
2. The cassette deck has auto-reverse, scan search and "CD Syncro" for recording.
3. It could also be used as an alarm clock with wake-up, sleep and record timers.
The price on this model has dropped into the $200 range and the newer version, the CMT-ED2 can be found for just under $300. So whether a gift for someone else or yourself, I recommend this purchase without any downsides.
