| ccn158's Full Review: Sony CMT-MD1 Shelf System |
THe Sony CMT-MD1 is the latest in the 'CMT' series of Sony players. Basically this particular family is made for the stylish individual, with each having the ability to be wall-mounted and look unobtrusive. And there's no difference here.
It's almost best to wall-mount this, and as you can see it's shape and size shows that this sort of thing would do best hanging in the kitchen or other confined space. And it'll last you well into the future, with it supporting MiniDisc technology.
Here are it's key features:
Power output: The system puts out 2x15 watt RMS, which is still pretty impressive considering the build of the speakers. Sound quality is clear and the radio reception espcially good. The addition of the new DBFB bass boost enhances the sound even more.
LCD Display: Nice touches here, as the display can show MD and CD Titles as they play (up to 30 characters).
The system features a nice remote control, and if you're considering mounting this then obviously you're going to need it a lot! The control lets you change everything so there's no need to touch the stereo.
Previous versions of the CMT featured a front-panel which turned around to show the buttons, which was activated but motion sensors. Unfortunately this feature is not present on the MD version, the front being sacrificed in order to provide room for the MD.
The dimensions are very attractive however:
For the unit:
Width: 18cm
Height: 25.1cm
Depth: 12.2cm
And the speakers:
Width: 17cm
Height: 25.5cm
Depth: 24cm.
Definately a system worth considering, especially if you want to impress your mates.
