The Bottom Line: This is a great system that packs a lot of power. If you do not want to spend thousands on a piece by piece system, this is your best bet.

This is a great system sony has made. For being as compact as this unit is, it puts out a powerful yet clear sound. The five speaker setup is good at creating a surround sound effect. The beauty of this unit is that if your space is limited, in a dorm or what have you, it can be compact, with the speakers and system together. Even this way, the sound is great. For those who have plenty of space, the two reflective speakers can be mounted on the wall and the two large speakers can be spread out, providing the ultimate surround effect.
There are no problems with this system, however the equalizer works with presets, not manual control. This does not bother me particularly, but some insist on setting every control on their equalizer. The equalizer has settings such as: jazz, rock, pop, etc. each having a different balance of bass to treble.
Another detail that is not a problem as much as a missing luxury is the provided antenna. The antenna is your standard plastic loop with wires wrapped around. Where I live this is not the best antenna to use because the radio towers are not local. If you are in a similiar situation, away from the urban area, I would suggest spending a few dollars on a better antenna.
Overall this is a very good system. The cd storage capacity is obscene, superfluous for most. The unit stores 50 + 1 cd's at a time, so I cannot imagine anyone having more than that many cd's of good music. The remote is very good, having all controls one could need except for clock and alarm setting. I would reccomend this unit over comparable units by other brands.
