| kandcats's Full Review: Sony MHC-MC3AV Shelf System |
I needed a new stereo. I had an old Sony 3 CD changer that died on me. The CD part stopped working. It was 5 years old so I figured it was time to start shopping for a new model.
I decided to really think about this purchase. I didn't want to buy the first stereo that looked good. I cruised through electronic stores, I asked friends questions, I did some cyber comparisons until I finally decided on the Sony MHC-MC3AV.
I am not going to getting too techie in this review because I don't know too much about that. I am going to tell you what it does, what I use it for and what I like best about it.
What it does:
It has a 51 CD storage capacity.
51!! (This is the big selling factor for me) You can listen to one at a time, file the discs into different groups and just play the selected group, program specific tracks, or shuffle all songs on all discs (plays a different song from a different disc every song)
Dual tape deck.
Standard dual deck options. Play a tape, tape from tape to tape, tape from CD or radio.
Surround sound speaker system.
Awesome sound! Great for watching the DVD's and getting that theatre experience.
20 FM presets and 10 AM presets.
Program every station you would ever consider listening to.
It also have the fall asleep to music feature and wake to music feature. It has a programed clock and you can use it as your alarm clock if you want to.
What I use it for:
Honestly, mostly the CD's. I have the 51 slots stuffed with everything from Billie Holiday to Eninem. I have my groups programed if I am in the mood for a certain style of music, I play just that group. For instance I like to clean my house to upbeat music and I have my 'house cleaning' group. It keeps me motivated to keep moving and keep cleaning! Other times I just hit the shuffle and listen to different songs from different CD's. I do listen to the radio also and it gets great reception. I have never used the dual tape deck. (I don't even own tapes anymore)
What I like best about it:
Radio often has play lists that repeatedly play the same songs over and over and over... UGH! I love that I have the power to listen to different songs from different artists (like radio, only better) with the shuffle CD's option. I am only listening to music that I like as they are all CD's I have purchased! I love that I am not constantly opening CD cases to insert and remove CD's to rotate the music. I have more than 51 CD's, but I am not loading it often! I love the surround sound while watching DVD's on TV. It makes the experience so much more fun.
My parents came for a visit recently and my mom bought the same stereo when they returned home. They were impressed with the quality of the unit, as well as that 51 CD storage capacity!
I get a little chuckle picturing my 60 year old mom dancing around her house, listening to her music!
