I recently moved in to my own apartment and needed a new stereo system for the move. What first apartment is complete without building shaking sound? Not mine, I say. I mainly purchased it for watching movies with stereo sound. I really don't listen to a lot of music in the house because all my cd's remain in the car. I currently have this running through my VCR using my VCR as a pass through for the cable. This allows me to use the stereos video mode for Television and Movies. The sound is amazing for these two functions. It gives life to the film and makes the action scenes worth watching over and over. The speakers make sure you feel any gunfire, explosions or shuttle launch scenes in the film. It makes the movie that much more engulfing. I hear no hissing noises in the sound even when turned all the way up with no sound coming through.
I also do listen to music on this system and that's just as rewarding as watching a movie on it. I put three cd's in, bring the remote over to my computer desk which is behind the unit and turn it up. The remote works from behind the unit at about 10 feet away and the sound is crystal clear and loud even with the speakers facing away from me.
The system comes with many great functions as well. I have tested out the sleep function which works very well and turns off the machine at a given time that is acceptable enough for me to fall asleep to. I've never pretended to know a lot about setting up speakers to play the ultimate sound such as tuning the outputs with a type of equalizer. Luckily for a stereo novice such as myself this machine has multiple preset output settings that you can pick between to find the one you like. Not only that but you can set your own and save them in the system in five possible save files. The system also has the choice between a few different graphic schemes for the system that are displayed on the main window around the displayed text. The graphics are good enough to even make the stereo fun to look at while music is playing.
The only gripe I have about this system I would have to say is with the graphics. Yes, I did mention that I liked them quite a bit, however a feature has been left out that I would appreciate. The graphics move while the music is playing, but unlike many graphic set ups they don't move with the beat of the song which makes the graphic theme difficult to watch for long as it is completely off beat with the music.
This system is a great buy. It comes with multiple different play options and possibilities that I'm sure I haven't even explored yet. When I bought mine, I got it as an open box buy and it did not come with a users manual. The system is so easy to understand that I have been able to set up this system on my own just by using the buttons. It is a very well designed unit and fits great in my apartment.
