I recently purchased a JVC 3800 Super VHS VCR online after researching the VCR here online. I can not put into words how great this VCR really is. The picture quality rivals any compared to other VCR's that I have seen. I especially like the new technology that JVC put into this VCR allowing you to record Super VHS signals on standard tapes.
Unlike before when you had to buy expensive Super VHS to record Super VHS signals the new JVC Super VHS VCR's incorporate Super VHS ET in them. This allows you to buy standard VHS tapes at your local store & record the Super VHS signal. Granted you won't get the same great picture on a standard VHS tape as you would with a Super VHS tape. But, for most users this is good enough. especially like the built in message letting you know when the tape heads need to be cleaned.
The VCR also has VCR Plus which makes it easier to program recordings if your on an antenna. You can also hook up a cable eye that they provide so that it can turn on your cable box & itself when you have it programmed to record a scheduled program then turn off itself & your cable box. The JVC also allows you to use it with Direct TV satellite of Dish Network satellite service.
After owning so many VCR's this VCR for the money is a great buy & it is easy to use & set up. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I ever need another VCR.
