| Booms729's Full Review: JVC HR-VP470 VHS VCR |
Earlier this year my family decided that another VCR would be handy in the household considered that I was manipulating the one we have constantly and two that the one we have is about thirteen years old. They came home with this small sized, smooth black video playing machine. I immediately noticed that the many buttons on the remote control and it's easy grip.
The JVC HR-VP47OU VCR claims to be equipped with all sorts of features. You tend to forget about all these small things when you are using such a simple piece of technology like a VCR. It plays my tapes with bright colors and displays the sound and images clearly. It also rewinds and fast forwards the tape at an exceedingly fast pace. It's remote is very handy combining a TV remote and a VCR remote in one. Although, it not as simple as a regular remote, you will appreciate it eventually. You have to hold down a button that says TV and then press another that says volume up/down or another that says channel up/down. It's automatic calibration makes things easy, so you do not have to drive yourself crazy tuning a tracking knob.
But it's just not quite as good as I expected, it does not pick up TV channels, which makes it impossible to record anything off television. It's calibration can be a bad thing sometimes too, ruining the picture when you want to see the movie. It's buttons tend to be either a bit sensitive to touch or a bit unresponsive to touch. Sometimes, I aim the remote and hit down on the button five times before it reacts. Also, I sometimes have to hit the button a few times before power comes on. One thing I am not crazy about is that the video starts automatically, when you pop the tape in. The VCR seems to have more control and I wish there was a bit more control for the user. Also, put the tapes in slowly, if it goes in crooked, the VCR will stall and then push it out unharmed.
