Pros: Brilliant Picture, Stops on a dime, super fast rewind, awesome remote
Cons: hard to find, need the manual to figure it out
The Bottom Line: If you can find one, buy it. It is, hands down, the best "consumer" model available today.

| whippingbrady's Full Review: Mitsubishi HS-U795 S-VHS VCR |
VCR's are on their way out. If your in the market for one, I feel sorry for you because there is not much to choose from. I recently became in the market for one and shopped all the local stores...Best Buy, Circuit City, Ultimate Electronics, ect. I was surprised to find a SVHS VCR for $99 and it was a JVC (WOW!!). Then I picked it up and realized it was a cheaply made, plastic VCR that felt like the $59 one next to it. After searching and searching, I finally found this Mitsubishi at Ultimate Electronics. On first inspection, I was pleased with its build. It has a metal casing (not plastic) and feels solid. It has a multitude of features such as dual A/V outs, front A/V inputs, a jog/shuttle control on the unit and the remote, Audio and Video dub, VCR Gold, SVHS-ET, 19 micron EP heads, and host of other features. It was the last one they had and was marked down to $239. After some wheeling and dealing I got him to give it to me for $170. It didn't have the remote with it so I had to order it from Mitsubishi ($68.20). Once I got it home (and the remote finally showed up in the mail) I was able to check the VCR out totally. You really need to follow the instructions to set it up initially. Since it sets the clock and configure the VCR to your zip code, it took "overnight" to set the VCR up. After I got it all setup, I started recording TV shows. The recordings are awesome. It has the clearest picture of any VCR I have ever seen. Pauses are crystal clear with virtually no noise. Sound recordings are crisp and clear with Signal to Noise ratios that rival CD. The Jog/Shuttle remote allows for precise frame selection. When fast forwarding or rewinding, it stops at the exact place you tell it to. One really nice feature of this VCR is the ability to rewind extremely fast. It will rewind an entire T-120 tape in 53 seconds. I have not had an opportunity to use all of the features such as the editing features since I do most of my editing on the computer anymore but if the way this machine works is any indication, they editing features are as equally good.
