| Debbie_R's Full Review: Panasonic PV-9450 VHS VCR |
Well, I finally made it to the nineties, just in time for the year 2000! Our household had three VCR's, and two TV's, none were newer than 15 years old, and only one (a VCR) was cable ready. So here I am, I finally decide to buy a new VCR. Couldn't be a better time, they are so inexpensive compared to the $500-$600 models I remember, and there are so many new features.
I first start by reading the sale ads, since the cheap skate in me doesn't want to spend more that $100. Then I read consumer reports, because I don't want to get stuck with a poor model because I settled for the cheapest one. Well, after a little research I decided on the Panasonic.
(I'm in the video store, waiting for them to bring one from the back room, I'm thinking to myself I should go get a cart because this will be too heavy to carry all the way to the car, and out walks the clerk balancing two with one hand!) I could tell it had been awhile since I shopped for VCR's. Back then the only thing to look for was a 4-head, and that it came with a remote. Oh yea, the decision between VHS and Beta!
I found that most models had about all the same features, and all had many more than I thought I would ever need. And the prices all seemed to be around the same. Panasonic was rated #1 by Consumer Reports for reliability, and Panasonic has always been a trusted brand in my opinion. I feel choosing this, or any other Panasonic is a wise choice. This model has plenty of features. My favorite is the fact that it programs the TV stations and sets the clock automatic for you! The instruction manual is easy to understand. The remote is easy to use & understand. All adjustments including setting the timer can be done from the remote. It displays the channel number on the TV screen when you are changing channels, and you can program the TV station name to be displayed also. This model has Hi-Fi Stereo, which I would recommend paying the little extra for. Even if you don't have a stereo system now, who knows what tomorrow will bring. The remote control can be programmed to use instead of your TV's remote (providing your TV is newer that 20 yrs old!). Overall, you will find most of the same features with whatever brand, so choose a brand that you can trust.
