| WGoodson's Full Review: Sony SLV-679HF VHS VCR |
We purchased this VCR for our living room after giving up our other one for Disney movies in the kids room. We compared other models with about the same features and this one was more affordable. We purchased this one at Circuit City for $129.95.
We like the fact that it sets the time by its self. No more blinking "12:00"! It also has an one hour memory back-up. If a power outage lasts more than one hour, the VCR resets the time automatically (most PBS stations send out a time signal).
It also features Auto Tape Speed, which means it automatically switches from SP to EP if the recording time exceeds the amount of recording tape. I have watched movies recorded on both speeds and they are both excellent. I could not tell a difference.
This is a 4 head VCR. It carries the Energy Star. It was very easy to set up and to use. It has an universal remote that glows in the dark.
These are the features as they are listed on my manual:
4 video heads
Crystal-clear still, frame advance and slow motion
APC II
VCR Plus+
8-event/1 month program timer
1-hour memory back-up
Auto Tape Speed
Auto Channel Set
Auto Clock Set
Built in Head Cleaner
Multibrand Remote
Smart Skip Search
Multilingual Menus
181-channel tuner
There is on screen color menu to help you set up the VCR and to program. We have our cable run through our VCR and the picture and sound on tapes and cable is great. It also has rapid rewind. It doesn't take long at all to rewind long movies, about 2 minutes at the most.
This is an excellent buy for the price. I could not be more satisfied. I think I got a great deal!
