I have been wanting a Hi-Fi VCR for a while to hook up to my stereo system, so when these came on sale at Circuit City I wound up with one.
Overall I was impressed with this VCR which I got on sale for a mere $149. It provided a clean sharp picture, excellent sound output for my stereo, and controls were easy to use. The remote that came with it that claimed to be able to control other manufacturers tv's actually worked!
However, after only two days use, it started to shut off by itself about halfway through a movie, and more frequently thereafter. I suspected the remote was flaky, so I removed the batteries. This didn't work, so it went back into the box and back to Circuit City.
I liked the VCR other than the obvious bug in that unit, but common sense wouldn't let me bring another identical model home after that betrayal. I ended up with a JVC instead which works just as well. Sorry Sony!
