| Cynthia411's Full Review: Sony SLV-779HF VHS VCR |
I bought this VCR last year. Since the time I have bought it the VCR has been returned to SONY 2 times for service. The VCR still does not work correctly yet.
I am in the market for a new VCR as I feel my time spent with Sony on the phone and repairs it is just not worth keeping anymore.
Yes the VCR comes with all the buttons and options. You can do on screen programing, sleep timer, set it up with VCR Plus. But I have had nothing with problems.
The first time it went to Sony Repair it was because the VCR is hooked up to my surround sound system and the VCR would keep shutting off so that the sound would come through the TV rather then the the speakers. I called SONY they told me how to go about returning it to get it repaired and that it would cost me nothing. Well after 3 weeks and no VCR I called them to see what the problem was. They said "We are waiting for payment for us fixing it before we send it back to you" I then had to tell them the story of how there was to be no charge and they went back to there records and found this to be true.
Well it worked great for about 2 weeks when it began to happen again. The VCR would again shut itself off. I called again and once again I had to send it back and they fixed it again.
Now the VCR does not shut off that often but it does once in awhile and you need to unplug it and then plug it back in and it works again. It is a pain in the butt and I am very unhappy with this brand of VCR. I will never again buy a Sony VCR.
