| timeres's Full Review: Toshiba M675 VHS VCR |
I purchased The Toshiba 675 VCR for two reasons. First my TV is not a stereo, but hooking it up correctly, using the tuner in the Toshiba and sending the picture only to the TV will give you stereo sound. Second, I wanted to produce tapes and copy tapes from a Go Video VCR. The Toshiba 675 performed well on both of these tasks. The remote is reasonably intuitive and user friendly. For the low price, it performs admirably. Features I like are: you can see the picture quite clearly with just a couple bands of distortion during fast foreword. You can also step through frames in slow motion. The sound is good, and free of background noise. The high-speed rewind is a real boon if you are editing tapes. It also does a good job of tape tracking. The only thing I do not like, and this is minor is the shape of the eject and power buttons. They are tear-drop shapes laying on their sides. While they may look stylish, they are not very responsive. I found myself pushing them several times especially for the reject function.
Aside from that minor aggravation, this is a fine machine for the money. It has a user friendly menu and many useful TV functions for families that wish to record TV programs. It has a lot of bells and whistles. It is also suitable to convert your mono TV to a stereo. It is a good low cost choice for the hobbiest editor as well.
