I have owned my the Toshiba M754 for just over a year now and I can say that this is really a great VCR. I had a cheaper Quasar for some years and was always satisfied until I got this one. The features are great; VCR Plus programming, Cable Box Control (so it will change to a channel you program for taping when you're not at home), on-screen programming, Auto Search Function, Auto Play, Auto Speed Select.
Special effects include picture search, still frame, frame advance, slow play back, double speed play back, and simulcast recording. Other features are 181 channel tuner, Multi-brand compatible remote control unit, intel-a-play, high speed rewind/fast forward.
I have had one problem, not with the VCR itself but with the remote control. It seems that one of the buttons doesn't work anymore. I inquired if it was covered under the warranty and was told that it was not after 1 year. They told me that a replacement would cost $46.00. I was told that I would be better off is I purchased a universal remote, which I did, but I lost some of the programming functionality. Regardless the VCR is just great, the picture sharp, the sound great, and I'm very happy with it.
