We chose to convert to satellite TV from cable because we could get better reception and more channels than with the local cable company. We have been well pleased with the quality. My husband installed our dish with no help.
Our cable company had frequent outages. We only lose the signal during very intense thunderstorms and then only for short periods of time. During 2 hurricanes we watched the weather channel give reports of our area until our electricity went out. People on cable lost their reception much earlier than we did.
The online program guide is great feature I miss when watching TV while traveling. I like the convenience of clicking a button to learn information about current and future shows.
My favorite and most used feature is selecting upcoming shows and the satellite automatically turns to those shows. The selection can be set up as one time only, daily during weekdays or every day.
The only problem we have is not getting the local channels through the satellite. We have to use an antenna and the reception is bad. But that is the fault of Congress not Dish Network.
