| kapper22's Full Review: Sharp MD-MS702 Personal MiniDisc Player |
The MD-MS-702 is a great entry level portable recorder. I have used it to record live shows, in my car, at the gym, hooked to my stereo and my computer. It was very inexpensive when I bought it, but it never disappointed me at all. It is a popular model so there are a lot of cases available as well as information about the product.
The best feature of this MD Recorder is that you can control the record level. The other really great feature is the digital/optical input. This allows you to record cd's from players with the right port. The sound comes through very crisp and perfect and it will insert the track separations automatically. Adding tags to the songs and the album is pretty easy, though it can take a long time and you can't do it while you're recording or playing(i don't know whether or not you can do this with other recorders).
There is nothing I really hate, though I will say I have had the portable for over a year now and the technology has gotten better to build very small players that are much lighter and smaller and have much longer battery lives(3hours on this one). I bought a battery extender that allowed me to tape live shows by adding a couple hours of battery life.
So, if you are looking to get started with Minidiscs, I think this is a great entry model. It is inexpensive and completely functional, easy to use and has sufficient battery life to do just about anything you could want.
