I've owned this player for nearly a year and I can honestly say that it is one of my better investments. The sound quality is very good, indistinguishable from a CD when recorded with the included optical cable. This player is very durable and comes with a very good, long lasting battery. The headphones I got were not ear buds as shown in the illustration, but quality headphones with good bass. I especially like the metallic design of the 722, it looks almost robotic. The jog dial is also a nice feature especially for titling tracks, it really speeds up the process. Recording is also made a snap with the 722. The optical cable included records with very precise accuracy. If you wish you can even use this player as a voice recorder with the microphone jack. There are just too many cool features to list here. This player is a good one, trust me.
