| ludwig215's Full Review: Sharp MD-MS722 Personal MiniDisc Player |
Let me start by saying that the whole MD idea was brilliant. From my experience so far, I now think of CD's as "low class" and original. What you'll get from Minidisc technology is a customizable audio player half the size of a CD! Many more features are included in Sharp's MDMS-702.
The price of this player/recorder is is very affordable. It has all the features of every player out there too! For first time users of MD, this would be a sound investment. Sony offers higher priced, sometimes smaller sized, MD', but keep in mind it can break easily if dropped on the road. $350 down the drain. I got my Sharp for $175 and it works great. One time I was rollerblading with it and dropped it by accident. What the amazing thing was is that the music played on without skipping! The player suffered a minor scratch, but no harm done to the mechanism.
The 702 offersmany basic features such as
Sampling Rate Converter (48kHz/32kHz/44.1kHz)
Sound Mic Synchro Recording
ATRAC (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding)
Shock Resistant Memory
Editing (Divide/Combine/Erase/Move)
Monaural Long Time Recording (148 Minutes)
100 Character Titler
Character Stamp
2x Quick Play (Mono Only)
Record Level Control
General Features
X-Bass System: 3-Mode
Random/Repeat Play
Headphone Jack
Microphone Input
Optical/Line Input
DC Input
Power Source: AC 120V/DC 3.6V
LCD Remote: Illuminated
Headphones
Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery: 10 Hr. Play/8 Hr. Rec.
Battery Case
Analog Connector Cable
AC Adaptor/Recharger
You can find these features on most other MD portable recorders.
The easy read display screen is a huge plus. Everything you need to know about what is going on inside shows up on the display screen. Better yet, you get an illuminated backlit display remote control! The background iiis flourescent blue, which provides a bright clear display for the black letters and numbers. It looks cool too!
Recording couldn't get any easier than the 702. All you need is a CD player with an optical digital output or and audio output to burn crisp, clear songs into an MD. Just connect the cord, press 2 buttons, and it is recording! Easy as ABC!
Overall, this is a great player. All you first timers looking for some change in music listening, this is the player for you! Its simplicity, performance, and good looks have propelled it to the top of Minidisc Technology.
