Pros: durable, size, battery life
Cons: cheap printed graphics rub off!
The Bottom Line: I dropped it over 20-30 times and treated it like I hated it, yet it still works wonderfully (it's still alive). I'm buying Sharp again so that should summarize everything!

| evoluken's Full Review: Sharp MD-MT821 Personal MiniDisc Player |
I got this MD player (looks the same as the picture) August 00' after a vacation to Hong Kong, so I brought back a Japanese Spec version. Even without instructions I figured out how to work this thing. I'm not that tech savvy, so I think Sharp created a very nice simple product.
If you don't know what an MD is, please read another review. I won't go over the basics here. :)
The player when you first look at it seems very flimsy with little buttons everywhere, but they all serve a purpose. This thing is also VERY DURABLE. I treated mine with no car whatsoever and it is still working to this day! I also used it around 2-hours a day while studying in the library or excercising and the motor still works great! This MD player has lastest almost two years and for me that is a miracle. I previously owned Sony MD players and they were ebay material (garbage) after 6 months. Sony Discman's were even worse, they only had a lifespan of 3-4 months because one drop would kill it.
Headphones come with this MD player, but in my case they were little ear bud ones. I used them for at least 1000 hours over one year. Again the stock Sharp headphones outlasted Sony products, even ones that costed $100. My headphones finally died 2-3 months ago as the bass had a little static and soon after it fell apart.
Technical wise, recording with this 24-bit recorder was great and at the time it came out, it had the highest recording quality of all portable MD recorders. It is also very easy to record with the auto-sync features and you do not need to set the volume as it is plug and play with the right reciever.
The only bad thing about this MD player is the remote control. The text on it is very poorly printed and rubs off after 2-3 months of rough use. Of course I never did use that little black bag that comes with the phone to protect it, but nevertheless, it should not have rubbed off so fast.
In conclusion this is a great little durable MD player that has lasted a long time and I am going to buy Sharp again because of it. It's not the smallest anymore but it's small enough!
