Pros: Economical, good quality sound, small, durable, attractive finish
Cons: Little anti-shock memory, eject sometimes catches, no remote backlight
The Bottom Line: I would buy this MD if you already have a recorder (say in a stereo) and want portable music. Otherwise, try to get a recorder if you can.

| jdhpolson's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-E33 Personal MiniDisc Player |
The Sony E-33 MiniDisc player is a great little player, a very pretty little item with all of the standard MiniDisc features. The sound quality is quite nice, although you may wish to purchase some other headphones to those which come with the player - they have very poor bass reception, and the sound can easily become distorted on higher volumes. I frequently take my machine to the gym, and have had to develop a motionless hand technique to stop the player from stuttering, unfortunately (and most probably due to the low price), the player comes with only 10 seconds of anti-shock memory, so if you plan upon taking this thing with you on your mountain biking trips over unpaved roads, think again. This is not to say that the E-33 is not hardy, I have dropped it a number of times, and not even a scratch on the finish. I do however have two gripes with the player: firstly, when the E-33 ejects an MD, the outgoing disc can sometimes get caught on the spring mechanism, requiring some fiddling to get the offending MiniDisc uncaught. Secondly, the remote strip has no backlight, which makes nighttime use (i.e lying in bed) rather hard on the eyes. Otherwise a very good value player.
