| rjune's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-E35 Personal MiniDisc Player |
I purchased the MZ-R35 around a year and a bit ago. A friend had thoroughly recommended the medium and I was keen to embrace the ethos of an easily editable digital format, and I'm so glad I did.
After the initial buzz which I think many people enjoy on the purchase of some new technological doohicky, this portable minidisc recorder has settled in to become one of the most used and useful audio formats I own. From the joy of extremely high quality field recordings, its useful nature as a player on long train journeys, to the sheer indespensability of being able to take home rough mixes from the studio - I've thoroughly enjoyed owning this Sony MD recorder.
There are however some things I wouldn't recommend on this model - all of which aren't completely damning, but may certainly affect whether you might want to buy this product or not. The level meter is VERY basic and has no 0db mark, the buttons are fiddly for big fingers and completing operations like titling your recordings using the small thumbwheel is a major pain where the sun doesn't shine. If, however, these minor niggles can be set to one side over the sheer facility this player and medium provides then the MZ-R35 (which may possibly now be picked up at discounted prices because of the speed which some of these models are replaced in the md product line) is worthy of a look.
