if you ever looked for a way to replace the tape format which would take advantage of digital technology, MD's are the answer. And if you ever wanted a full featured portable recorder which would record audio at near Cd quality, the MZR30 is a great buy!
Because MD's are so small, the hardware becomes smaller too and you will notice this with the MZR30 as well as with the portable md recorders that came after this one. the MZR30 is not the smallest recorder available but it is very small and it will provide you with all of the same features as the newer verions, and most of the features in the MD decks.
The only thing that is really annoying about this MD-recorder is the strange connector that the remote has, to plug in your headphones. Sony calles it a microplug, and it will not let you connect a standard miniplug set of headphones while using the remote. You can however, buy an adapter for $10 that will let you connect any set of standard miniplug headphones. Aside from this I have found this recorder very sturdy (i have dropped it a couple of times and not only did nothing happen to it, but it did not skip and kept on playing even as it hit the ground!) and ready to fulfill my recording needs.
Because it is an older model, you are bound to find it for a cheaper price than the new models and the difference is not that great.
