| flindingo's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-R37SP Personal MiniDisc Player |
The miniDisc is a great system, and it's about time people are starting to get back into it. I use it for it's more practical, and most important use. I use it in Film making, I have a Sony MZ-R37 and it's my alternative to the DAT machine. In the past DAT was "THE" way to record audio for film and video, well there are draw backs. One is that it's about $3000 just to start getting into DAT, and another is you can't jog around the tape as quickly as a track jump on a MD or CD.
I chose MD because when recording through DAT, I picked up some usual noise from my Mixer board, and a little too much Ambience some times. Well when I would use the MZ-R37 I seemed to just get my voices, all that I wanted and nothing more. The Sony MZ-R37 is a great recording device, it's super clear and amazingly easy to use.
I only have one complaint about the recording on the MD, which is when using the Line-in, if there is a silence for 3 seconds it skips to the next track. That's a pain! I'll end up with about 150 tracks on only 20 Shots, but overall it's just a small thing that I work around daily.
The MiniDisc is finally finding it's home, soon hopefully they'll include a MP3 decoder in there to store even more on these great devices!
