This is porbably the best MD player to get right now because of it's lower price compared to some of the newer models. I have owned the R-55 for about a year now and I still love the thing! When I first got it, I was amazed at the size of the thing! It was so small, so portable, so, etc. It even comes with a nice small remote that can do everything!
MD are the wave of the future! Forget about CD players and MP3 players. CD players are too big and can only play a few songs that you like on that one CD. You can burn your own mixes, but that will cost you a decent computer and a burner (CD-R). MP3 players are nice and small, but they can cost more than MD and CD players. They can only play MP3's and can only hold about 1 hour of high-quality of music. You can buy more "memory cards", but they cost about $150-200 for 1 hour of music. MD's are nice and small and you can burn your own mixes on them. No more listening to a few songs on a CD and then changing to a different CD. You can now enjoy every song that you like on a nice compact MD! Also MD's can record off of almost anything (as long as you have a cable for it)! I've recorded MP3's from my computer, recorded from anything with a headphone jack, the TV, everything! Even record a live performance with a mic!
This MD player is a really nice one and I would recommend this to anyone who listens to music in the car, plane, while jogging, and excersising. There have been some complaints that some of the older models skip when you run with them, but that shouldn't be a problem now. I have dropped my R-55 a number of times and it's still good! Only a small scratch in the corner, hardly noticable. This thing is really durable, but I wouldn't recommend you to "test" it!
Some down sides to this MD player is it's small size. Some of the buttons are so small that you can have trouble pressing them. But that's minor comapred to all the cool features you get.
