I am new to the MINIDISC scene, so I decided to do a little rummaging round on the net. And well, this is where I learnt everything I know.
After reading loads of reviews, I decided that SONY was the way to go. I went out and bought the MZ-R70, but I didn't like the design, and discovered that it lacked many of the basis features offered by MZ-R55, for example: LCD on the remote, time and date stamp. Although in the defence of MZ-R70, it has 2 headphone sockets, if that appeals to you.
Anyway I took swift action and replaced it with the new MZ-R91, an amazing machine, the design and color speaks for itself. That oval shaped LCD a masterpiece, the remote is back lit, very very handy. Quality is extremely good, although I can't really compare it too much, as I don't really have that much experience with Minidisc. But I am very impressed!!!
Okay, know some minor features that could be improved:
1) A slight amount of noise emits from the recorder occasionally, usually at start up, although can be heard throughout playback sometimes. But when you're music is going, you can't notice a thing.
2) It lacks a programmable feature, so you can play a selection of tracks.
But apart from these little things, I am couldn't be happier. It has everything I have every wanted from an audio portable device.
I can't forget the anti shock, 40 seconds of jumping up and down, and you will still have immaculate audio quality.
So what are you waiting for??? Go out and buy one, NOW!!!!
One more thing the battery life goes on, and on, and on, just like the Duracell bunny. In other words the battery life is huge. Oh, and the machine is sooo tiny, you won't believe it.
