Thank you (Reply to this comment)

Thanks Tom, for the info. I just moved to Friscoland and wondered why basic cable is puny compared to other parts of the country (Chicago, Boston). I called up AT&T and asked how I could get more--like say TNN, because I have unwittingly become obsessed with the WWF--and Margo, the phone lady, said I should get digital cable.Yeah, right. I have wondered about going the satellite route and your thoughtful opinion was what I needed to read. Back when I signed up for cable the phone person kept pushing the digital package on me--Just think! she said, You can get the BBC! I declined because it seemed overpriced and silly. Now I know it is.

Thank God for competition in America (Reply to this comment)
by Ergoboy
My mom got digital cable. After about 6 months of having trouble changing the channels, getting all the devices to turn on right, etc., we gave up and went with the Dish Network. TCI has one of the most unusable interfaces. In addition, they only carry about half the HBO channels. All this and increased prices.
Thankfully, there were other providers that saw a need for something improved. Thank goodness businesses are allowed to compete for our business (for now).

Great Review (Reply to this comment)

I'm glad to see that the service is just as crappy in other parts of the Country. I'm in Springfield, OR and have AT&T cable. I hate the fact that you can't flip through the channels. Just like you said, it takes 1-2 seconds for a channel to come in. Also pressing the buttons isn't always instant. I'll get frustrated and push buttons rapidly and when I stop the box is still processing the commands. Great Review.

Cost per channel (Reply to this comment)

I'd immagine if you do the cost per channel on Digital Cable vs. Satellite. Cable would still come out on top.
