I have recently moved to a new apartment and had to switch from Time-Warner Cable to Adelphia, the only big name Cable provider in my new area.
I have purchased the bundle Adelphia deal of Adelphia cable, basic channels, cable channels and around 20-25 premium movie channels, all in all, around 150 total channels (give or take 20), and also Adelphia Power Link, the high speed internet service, all for an introductory rate of $75 for the first 3 months and $106 after that.
I have been using their service for around a month and here is my take on it:
Cable - I think Time Warner Cable spoiled me a little because I enjoyed their selection and features a little better than Adelphia. Adelphia offers a few less movie channels than Time-Warner and none of the East Coast movie channels (such as HBO-East). Adelphia's picture quality of pretty good, but I've come to expect that from a digital cable company. I don't like the speed at which their menu guide operates, there is a delay when scrolling through channels or getting information about a certain program, Time-Warner was much better at that. The menu guide is, however, thorough and full of useful information, I would like to keep watching the current program in a thumbnail view as I am looking for other channels, Adelphia does not allow me to do so.
The sound is pretty good as well, as expected. There are also around 50 music stations that come included, a little bonus, but again, not original as Time Warner does the same. rating - 2 1/2 stars.
Internet- I am much more impressed with the internet access, it frees up my phone line, very fast page loads and download speeds (Avg. 30-60 Kbps, as high as 160 one time). They offer you multiple e-mail addresses with plenty of storage space, so big files can be sent quickly. There have been a couple of minor interruptions and stalls, but all in all a solid performer.
rating - 4 stars.
Customer Service - I have not dealt with any service people yet other than the installer who was pretty knowledgable and friendly, he installed the devices quickly, I didn't like the fact I had to wait a week for them to come in and set it up. rating - 3 stars
Overall impression: An ok cable service, pretty good internet service, rating 3 stars.
