| Benjipc's Full Review: Adelphia |
When we call Adelphia is a cable service provider, I think we are mistaken. A cable provider, yes, most of the time. A service provider, yes, if you're talking about poor service. I don't think anyone likes reading negative opinion reviews, so I'll try to keep my words, but I hope that I'll be able to deter at least a few people from signing up with Adelphia. In my three months of Adelphia cable service, I've called customer service five times. Two out of the five were to complain of lousy picture and terrible sound quality, a third call was just to ask for service, period. The forth and fifth times that I called are the points where I hope to help fellow reviewers and those considering signing up with Adelphia.
When I first signed up for service, I had two options for the initial payment: The first, to pay for the standard cable service (what I wanted) plus a separate installation fee. The second option was to to pay for the standard service, but also to pay for two premium channels (and they would wave the installation fee). As it turned out, the premium channels were much cheaper than installation, so the choice was simple. I signed the application and in came the cable. In the second month, to my naive surprise, I find that one must cancel the premium channel (after the first month) IN PERSON in order for the original sign-up system to be a good deal. Perhaps it is my naivete that let me believe that the company was not just out to get me, but regardless, I write this epinion with hopes that someone else will not make the same mistake as I have. As far as the technical service provided by Adelphia, I have found most of the services very poor. I think it is safe to say that the picture, sound, and 'cable-men,' are all pretty much unreliable. To someone picking out a cable company, I would suggest finding one that does not aim to attract clientele by such...borderline sly means.
What can I say? Choose Adelphia... and heavenhelpya. :)
