I signed up for cable one basic cable service that costs about $33/month for first 3 months. I ended up not watching it very often so I wanted to cancel it, but I had to wait until the 3 month promotion was over before I was 'allowed' to cancel it. The first business day of this month (today) comes around so I call to cancel since my contract has ended. Instead of a simple downgrade of service, they said they now charge a $30 fee just to turn off my cable television. Extremely unsatisfied. Apparently they just began implementing this in June 2009. Cable One reminds me of doodoo.

Including the $30 disconnection fee, they decided to charge my bill 5 days early for no apparent reason. Now, they "can't" refund me. Instead, they will pro-rate me for the next couple of months. The way this company handles its business with fees and payments is just terrible. I do not recommend this company as they have grown to be more 'shady' over the years. Customer service takes forever to get to and most of the employees don't even know what they are talking about. If you're like most people these days who don't own a landline telephone anymore and just a cell phone, expect to use a bit of your minutes just to get thru to an operator. But then again, it could just be my local Cable One who has the horrible customer service -- Columbus, Mississippi. Figures, right? Mississippi...
