| bronxbound's Full Review: Cablevision |
Think America stands for freedom of choice? Not when it comes to cable TV where we live in the Bronx. Our only choice is Cablevision, and we were too fearful of interference to try a satellite.
Cablevision missed their first appointment to install (scheduled between 9 am and 1 p.m. on a Saturday--the only day we were available). We called throughout the day, always on hold for 10 minutes or more, and always being told we were still on the list and they were on their way. We were told this until about 7 p.m., when we were finally told they would not be coming, (gee...really?). They said they were sorry and they offered us a free month for our troubles.
The next available appointment was the following week. Fine. They showed up this time. An almost mute person installed our cable and took our money. He left us with a mess to clean up everywhere he had done installation work, and he left us with no information at all about Cablevision (no channel guide, etc.)
We found out that, even though we are paying for cable and stuff like HBO, Cablevision does not offer basic news channels like FoxNews or MSNBC, but we do get lots of fairly useless channels.
Obviously, I am not a fan of Cablevision, but what is also frustrating is that they are the only cable TV provider available to us. It's like living in a communist state. Complaints clearly have not had an effect on their service--nor have they brought forth another provider choice for the general public. It's truly unforgivable and something should be done to change it.
I wrote letters of complaint to every public official I could locate and I hope it helps--I don't want to believe otherwise...
