Pros: The TV signal at least gets to the house. There's finally an alternative.
Cons: Sky-high price.
Not that reliable.
Channels keep getting taken away.
Lies in their advertising.
The Bottom Line: Pointless to sign up if you're a new customer, and can get satellite or FiOS. You'll be much happier with them rather than cable.

| nitrous9200's Full Review: Cablevision |
Ever since my grandparents signed up for cable service through Cablevision countless years ago, it's only gotten worse. They have the family cable service, which has come up to $49.60 a month! This includes the crappy, pixilated picture, occasional service dropouts, and removal of channels. I'm really into cars and racing, so I loved Speed channel. So Cablevision decides to move it up to a more expensive package which we won't be getting. (This was a few years ago) The rest of the channel lineup is pretty weak as well. It wouldn't seem so bad if the price was lower, but it is not. My cable-connected friends have had many occasions when I've been there and the TV signal would look like crap or never come on at all. The Internet sucks too, never coming close to it's 15/3 mbps speed.
They also lie horribly in their commercials, especially about having "the most advanced fiber optic network in the country." when in reality, Verizon's FIOS network is larger and delivers a fiber optic cable to your home instead of using a copper cable. They also don't have the fastest internet access, since it's 15 mbps and 30 mbps "BOOST" plans are outclassed by fios's 50 mbps /5 mbps plan, and also it's 10/10 plan (that means faster uploads to youtube, etc.) News 12 is also a waste of time, we already have enough news channels and sources for the traffic and weather. We don't need another one!
We had FiOS internet & phone at our house, which was stellar. FiOS TV was recently approved for our city, so once it gets delivered, it's goodbye to Cablevision forever. Why stick with something so old, antiquated, and expensive when you can get something new, advanced, and worth your time and money?
