Cable in general has gone the way of Bell Telephone years ago. There is now a monopoly on cable, and basically no home can be without it. Of course we can all revert back to the days where you had to install an antenna on top of your house (so attractive) and hope it is not either blown down or pointed in the wrong direction.
As for Cablevision, Raritan Valley the rates have increase while the service has decreased. They continue to "upgrade" the system which means that they have removed channels that used to come with certain packages, and made them part of and upgraded price.
We currently pay over $50.00 for monthly service, while you can get satellite service for less. With the passing of a new law where this service now must offer local network channels the options are obvious.
With rates near $40.00 a month for more option, satellite service seems to be the way to go.
I think that it is time for the Federal Government to get involved and to offer up other alternatives to cable. Currently there is usually only one choice in your local area, and they can charge what they want.
