Comcast is greedy and sleazy (Reply to this comment)
by agathafroo
I canceled my Comcast service and am going through a similar problem. They continue to bill me month after month. I have heard that this is very common. They need to be cracked down upon, hard. What they are doing isn't even legal.
I have resorted to doing a chargeback on my credit card of the amount billed. Chargebacks cost companies a lot of money in fees. Comcast deserves this. I wish more people would take them to court.

I have to respectfully disagree (Reply to this comment)

I have loved Comcast since gaining their service from Cox when moving to Florida. The prices I get are wonderful. Every six months I call them back and get a new special. The magical words to use is anything containing the word "dish". I call up and tell them I am going to DirecTV and always get a "special offer to dish customers" I have only had one Customer service rep call my bluff. I called back got another one and baam. My current dish deal is digital with two dvr boxes with HD programing and HBO and Encore with Cable internet for $79 a month. Let me see someone beat that! It seems like Comcast maybe is better in certain areas than others. Maybe because their call center is located locally to me in Jacksonville they look out cause I am local.

I couldn't agree more!!! (Reply to this comment)

I am a new member of Epinions, and I've just written my first review regarding Comcast as yet another example of corporate irresponsibility and unaccountability and the consumers who ultimately pay the price of their misdeeds.
I realize now that our situation is not so uncommon it is just too bad that we had to lose over $200.
I appreciated reading your own comments, and I am glad that Epinions gives us a place to voice out our opinions. Maybe, we could make a little difference and give voice to multitudes so that other could make informed decision about future investments.

No problems here.... (Reply to this comment)
by vitalmodelscom
I had NO issue getting a credit for outages, not only from storms, but when my neighbor disconnected my cable and connected his up, it took them a couple days to get here and fix it, they credited me 1/3 of my bill (abuot $40) for only those 3 days, very nice.
BUT... dealing with their 800 number is a bit difficult sometimes, no one person can do everything to help you, so you end up calling around different departments, etc.
Overall I have had little to no problems with them.

Re: Comcast horror (Reply to this comment)

Jeff, your experiences with Comcast mirrors my own. It's amazing they stay in business. I have my own horror story documented on Ep. I look at the list of reviews for Comcast on Ep and see nothing but low marks from most of the customers. They get my blood boilign.
Happy Thanksgiving

I concur, Comcast is a company with poor service. From Rockville, MD to Atlanta, GA... everyone I know has horror stories.
DirecTV is great though!

Glad I don't have cable. (Reply to this comment)

I am so glad to have Directv. I have never had any problems with customer service or packaging. And every time I hear a story like this (and I hear many) I am thankful for my prior decision. Plus I get Sunday Ticket. :)
Sucks you had to deal with this.

Any chance you can get your money back for the modem? That's just plain ridiculous
I just want to forget the whole thing - who knows what they are going to do if I try to push for the refund.
Plus, simply talking to their reps makes me want to pull my hair out!

I Agree (Reply to this comment)

They're no better here in Georgia. When we lived in Rome their service was pathetic. here in Atlanta, they have the worst customer service I've ever experienced. You're absolutely right. They don't care.
We had to fight with them to get installed in the first place, and they were two DAYS late before they finally arrived.
Cox Communications is headquartered here in Atlanta. If only they offered service here, too. Any chance you can get your money back for the modem? That's just plain ridiculous.

John
