Coming over to the Comcast Cable Company, I was not looking forward to the potential experience of having to deal with a brand new cable company to me. Having used Adelphia for such a long time, I had many frustrating experiences not only setting it up at my apartment, but in dealing with their customer service. It jaded me on the industry to say the least, so if I got better than the minimum level of customer service from Comcast I was going to be one happy consumer. But right away I could see that they were going to be different, starting with their online sign up for installation. Comcast offers their online site as a way to sign up for the internet taking advantage of online chat where the user meets with a representative, and sets up the home installation. You select where you want the cable to be installed, three dates that fit into your schedule (4-hour blocks), and then you go into an active window where a Comcast representative sets everything up with you.
It was an extremely easy process, where the nice man on the other end set me up with a 4-hour block later on in the week, and took down all of my account information to pass on to the installers. It was quite an easy process, and being able to type it all out on screen, also meant that I could save or print out the entire conversation. That way if I forgot specifics about what we discussed it would be down on paper to reference later on during my use of Comcast services. This is also where you decide what plan you are going to go with for cable, and exactly how many of the bells and whistles you want to have. The site presents all of the options in your particular zip-code, including deals that are being offered for a short time on their basic or digital services. This is where you decide just how many channels you want to go with, and how much that you are willing to pay for the extras with Comcast.
Since I was a first time Comcast member, I signed up for their 3-month at $29.99 introductory rate, and decided it would be a good option to have for a little while. With it I received 73 channels of service which included everything from ABC and CBS up to Bravo and TNT. It had ESPN and all of the other stations I normally watch, so it was the perfect fit for me. They do offer some other packages that include digital channels such as HBO or Toon Disney for an extra set of charges, but I didn't end up going with them at this time. If you are already a Comcast Customer, you can sign up for a $19.99 introductory rate, which could save a few extra dollars for people moving to a new location. Since this was my first time, I went with the $29.99 and was happy enough that it wouldn't be all that expensive. After that first three months, the price bumps back up to the normal rate of about $42.00 per month in our area.
Having signed up for the installation, all that we had to do now was wait for the person to come out on the specified date and set us up. Without a discount on that, it costs an additional $9.99 to have the cable turned on, but the worker came and did it without any problems. He came within the specified time, and we had zero problems with the installation. There are no payments made to the cable worker, and you end up getting your first bill around 10 days after the installation. This is nice, because you don't have to worry about adding more fees to your first couple of weeks of living in a new residence. The bill came shortly after just like it was explained to us, and it had the correct charges in addition to the extra state and tax fees that are normally applied to the billing. Interested in pursuing Internet through the same company at a later date, I called up customer services, and received all of the information that I needed.
The service that Comcast has provided us with thus far has been exemplary, and I speak highly of our experience with the company after having had Comcast for a while now. Their online sign-up for installation made everything very easy, and they have come through for us at every turn in the road. It is easy to upgrade or have the cable turned off if we so request it, and we have yet to have one issue with Comcast as a company. All of their customer service people, including the person who worked with me on chat to set everything up have been top-notch, and they have really made the process of working with them very easy. Where in the past I have had to deal with a lot of hoops to jump through in order to not only have the service, but receive good customer relations, Comcast has done everything right from the start. If all Cable companies could work with their customers as well as Comcast has worked with us thus far, I think that people would have a far better opinion of the industry. With the ease of setting up the basic cable, the great customer service they have provided, and the fact that we do not have a single complaint about their services, I have to highly recommend Comcast Cable to everyone. They provide a strong signal, a great selection of channels, and with the ability to change our plan at any time, I think this is going to be a cable company I am very happy with for years to come.
