Most people don't have much of a choice when it comes to cable TV and broadband packages. It seems that cable companies have monopolies in most areas.

I recently moved from an area where Time Warner had the monopoly to an area where Comcast has the monopoly.
Comparing apples to apples, I like Comcast much more than Time Warner for the following reasons:
More channels - Comcast offers more channels than Time Warner did. This may vary depending on your location.
More Features - Comcast seems to be adding new and more interesting things all the time. Most recently they've introduced better music channels, music videos on demand, concerts on demand, karaoke on demand, guitar lessons, piano lessons, and probably other things I have yet to discover.
I really like this stuff. Everyone knows that you can have hundreds of channels and still have nothing to watch. The karaoke on demand is really fun when no one is around! ;)
Faster Internet - Comcast advertises up to 6 Mbps with a range of 4 to 8 Mbps. I have tested my connection with several online broadband speed tests (not always all that accurate). One of the tests was a third party web site located in my same city. I got over 6 Mbps. Other tests ranged from 2 to 4 Mbps. With Time Warner I never got more than 1.5 and most of the time is was way less than that.
Service - Comcast offers better customer service in my area than Time Warner did. I had some problems with the initial hook up and they seemed genuinely concerned on the phone and were quick to dispatch a technician to correct the issue. I waited one day rather than the typical 3 to 4 days with Time Warner. Turns out the problem was not their fault and they still didn't charge me for it since it was easy to fix.
Uptime - I have not had an outage in the ten months that we've used the service. No Internet outages and no cable TV outages.
Price - No one likes the high prices you have to pay for cable and broadband. Throw in a few movie channels, a few on demand rentals, and broad band Internet and the bill is about $110/month. Ouch! I, however, find this to be typical and, therefore, acceptable and reasonably competitive.
As much as I hate monopolies and not having much of a choice, I can't really say anything bad about Comcast (yet).
