The Bottom Line: never used satellite, comcast is ok tho. expensive per usual, but no worse than satellite

| neland's Full Review: Comcast |
unlike the last person reviewing, i'd have to say comcast has done a good job. i dealt with charter in SC for a while and they're terrible. when i moved to tennessee i got comcast basic cable. i just got an hdtv (without the tuner) and will be hooking it up with a better service (digital bronze package) and hd cable.
there are only 18 hd stations as of right now. hd service is $5 a month with comcast. with charter it's $10. either way, you'll probably have to deal with a cable company, so i would suggest using comcast if you can.
lastly, addressing the previous reviewer. i understand that some people may want to set up everything themselves. but one way or the other you'll have to go thru a cable company for cable. the fact is that you probably got ripped off if you bought an hdtv with an hd tuner. and paying $5 a month for hd channels is not so bad. do your research before you buy. don't be impulsive, and ask questions. this way you'll know what to buy, instead of buying something that you don't need or don't know what it does.
comcast rips people off just like any other cable company, but at least they do their jobs right. when i had a weak signal i called them and 2 days later they dug and entirely new ditch to my house. i've had better service with them than anywhere else.
addition/update: i might add that i just added dvr and hd service. the person i talked to hooked me up with every special possible. i got a reduced rate for 3 months, free hbo since i have internet service with them, a free standard digital cable box (no monthly rental charge) for an upstairs tv of mine (non-dvr/hd box), and i paid no installation as i went and picked up the boxes and plugged them in myself). most of these specials/discounts will change over time, but new ones will replace them. i'm quite happy, and i have on demand, hdtv, and 300 more channels for $30 more than i was originally paying (after the 3 month promotional period). i might also add that there is no contract with comcast, so you are never locked in and can change or cancel at any time. i press you to find a better deal with another company.
it's all about who you talk to when you call. as i've been told, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. so be polite and ask lots of questions and investigate current specials they might have.
