AT&T and MediaOne just came to our town about a year and a half ago. At first we were excited because we had not been particulary happy with our old cable provider Cablevision. Also, we had been hearing awesome things about what they are calling Broadband. Then, we were not so happy.
First of all, they came in and immediately raised everyone's rates. This is not the way to get on my best side, that is for sure. Then we lost channels when they redesigned their choices of programs you could get. We had Basic 1, 2, and 3 previously which included everything but the movie channels (and the weird or playboy channels). When they changed us over, we lost The Country Music Station, Disney 2 (we still have Disney 1 but we were getting both), TMC (Turner Movie Classics) and a couple of other stations we had been enjoying. And these were added to a new catagory you could get for more a month. We did not go for it and decided those channels were just a loss to us.
Next, I can't even understand what the difference is with this "broadband". There is no change in the quality of the stations that I can see. And, if I had wanted to use them as a means to connect to the internet, then I would have to pay twice as much as I am now to use my phone line. Supposedly broadband is quicker but it is not worth twice as much to me. So I do not know if it is quicker or not and will probably never know unless they lower the rates.
I will say that their customer service is pretty good. I have had to call them twice, for the cable being out, and they were nice to me and quick about getting back to me on an answer.
Overall, I would give them about three stars, mostly because they took away channels and raised prices. They have also gotten so big that I really do not have a choice as to my cable provider. My small town is serviced only by them. I could get a dish and go with Primestar but I tried them and didn't like them either. That is another epinion! LOL
