This is part II about digital cable
After a week of having digital cable I think I can evaluate the ease of use and the channels that are available
First how easy it is to use. After experimenting with the remote and watching the information channel I think I have most of the buttons on the remote figured out. I do find it slower then my other remote but after I started using 3 digit mummers instead of two the speed improved.
I have had to take out a VCR that was programmed to come on at a certain time each day and I was able to do this with the help of the service man on the phone. I have not recorded with my VCR yet so I am not sure about that. I do find that the two books that came along with the box are little or no help. A person who had used it before explained most of the things to me. All and all it is not any easy remote to use at first
Now for the actual channels. I receive all the same channels and notice little difference in picture quality or sound on these stations. I do think that the 6 HBOS that I get do have a clearer picture. This is also true of Cinemax
I have not listened too much to the music selections but if you were working in the home it can be used like a radio or CD player and is background music for you. You are given the name of the song artist and where you can purchase the CD. There are no videos.
I have found that my kids enjoy HBO family and my husband seems to enjoy cinemax. These seem to be the only new stations we have watched with regularity. The pay per view offer lots of selections and I do see a few that I may watch. The price is about 3.95 to view these a little more then renting a video in my area but there is no return. My husband and I see this as something we will use occasionally but make sure we keep it in check because it is so easy to use we could run up quite a bill each month.
All in all I think, as time goes on we will be more at ease with digital cable. I would recommend it to people but it is difficult to use at first.
