How to Abuse Prescription Drugs
Written: Jul 15, 2002 (Updated Jul 15, 2002)
Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:witty and humorous
Cons:problems of the wealthy make me sick
The Bottom Line: It is a great quick read. Its like watching a satirical drug documentary. Funny but interesting.
I have yet to exeperience drugs. Alcohol is already the past. So where does one start when doing drugs. One can always start with prescription drugs right? Wurtzel basically gives me the 101 on how to snort and sniff. That is always useful. Moreover, she makes it funny too. Her sometimes spaced out third person view of herself is odd and worth a few guffaws.
She embodies the desperate drug user perfectly. Although at times her access to money and friends makes me wonder if it is not all a ploy to garner pity. Of course it is not our job to pass judgement, just to learn how to sniff and snort properly.
But this memoir isn't really about drugs, it is about her. She makes it a delicious read, with her witty sense of humor about herself that only someone who is truthfully honest can do. Most people are ashamed of themselves, but she isn't.
I haven't fully read a book in 4 years and this is the first book I've really finished. Or at least have wanted to continue reading after the introduction. She brings you into her world like not a sappy tear wreching memoir. Its cold hard and funny. There is not a lot of glitz and glamour, but it sparkles in it's own way.
I love it, now go read it!!
