I'm 62 and this is my first vacuum purchase. I bought the model AS1001 Gold vacuum mainly to clean a house I'm rebuilding. When I got it there and opened the box, I was amazed at all the parts to assemble. It took me about an hour. It was like a snap together toy and appeared the plastic tab locks were flimsy and will eventually break. The weight is ok to manuver. I like the long cord. It's not made in America.
So I gave it the test. The basement was spider web city, so I took it down, attached the extension (don't forget like I did that the extra extension is stored inside the first) and turned it on. It seemed a lot quieter than I remember the old vacuums. To my amazement, it sucked up all the webs quickly. It took only an hour. Then I took it home to do some vacuuming. First I emptied the cup. Watch out. It will spill all over unless you are careful. Then I cleaned the filter with the brush. Lots of dirt hides in there. Tap it and brush over newspaper. Then I cleaned a small 4 room apartment. When almost done with the 4th room, it shut off. I checked the plug and breakers. Then I checked the manual. Sure enough, there was a clog in the filter and it overheated. I emptied the canister (messy job), cleaned the filter and figured out to put it all back together. It took about an hour of cooling, but it did turn back on. Time will tell how long it will last.
